Rivian has agreed to add EV charging stations at all Colorado state parks, free of charges.
The proposal to electrify the state parks was recently as Rivian will begin installing two Rivian Level 2 chargers at each of the state’s 42 parks. Rivian will also maintain the stations for 5 years, with an option to continue to maintain them for an additonal 25 years.
Rivian has been branding itself as an off-road, excitement, camping, and journey auto manufacturer and installing these stations will offer Rivian owners (and all EV owners) greater confidence that their trip off the beaten path will still allow them to get home at the end of the day. Level 2 chargers add approximately 25 miles for every hour plugged in, therefore, these stations are meant to top up not fully recharge vehicles.
The state, along with Rivian, will also look at various alternative and renewal energy sources for the charging stations as well as maintain data on how the stations are used to help guide future investments.
