Dubai’s Roads and Transportation Agency has selected the GM subsidiary as the exclusive autonomous vehicle to deliver on their “Self-Driving Transport Strategy”.
As part of the announcement, Dubai’s RTA will take possession of vehicles starting in 2023 with a goal of having 4,000 vehicles on the road by 2030. The city’s Self-Driving Transport Strategy aims to convert 25% of all in-city trips into self-driving trips across multiple modes of transportation. The Cruise vehicles will operate as autonomous taxis and ride-hailing services.
The all electric vehicles are designed to reduce emissions while improving traffic conditions, parking considerations and ownership hurdles. The announcement was made at a signing ceremony in Dubai.
