The insurance carrier will be targeted to US customers who drive less than 10,000 miles per year, leveraging existing on-board telematics capabilities.
Ford continuous to push consumer value for it’s connectivity platform. With recent firmware updates, personal telematics functionality and more, Ford is expanding it’s value proposition by adding another insurance option. Mile Auto is specialized in low mileage insurance, offering pay-per-mile coverage with significantly lower overall premium costs. Mile Auto advertises 30 to 40% low fees than comparable insurers.
With the Ford partnership, policyholders do not need to install a mobile app or install any hardware in the vehicle. Instead, Ford (with the vehicle owner’s acceptance) delivers driving data to the insurer where mileage calculations are performed. Mile Auto is available in Arizona, Georgia, Illinois, and Oregon with plans to expand to half the country by end-of-year. Mile Auto signed a similar partnership with Porsche in 2019.
