AAA yearly Memorial weekend traffic predictions see travel climbing back up

AAA is predicting a 60% increase in domestic travelers this year. That number still represents an overall, pre-pandemic, reduction of 6 million travelers.

AAA has seen a significant increase in searches, queries and bookings to many domestic destinations as CDC update guidelines

As more Americans receive the vaccine, families are looking to travel (and normalcy). Fully vaccinated individuals have been cleared by the CDC to travel domestically. Although air travel is expected to see huge numbers, most are predicted to travel by car.

The holiday weekend will see an estimated 2.5 million air travelers, and 34 million road travelers. The large difference in the two transportation modes is seen as an additional safety precaution by Americans as the pandemic continues.

The top destinations for all travelers this year remain Las Vegas and the theme parks of Orlando.
